Window Socket – Kyuho Song & Boa Oh

So this is an absolutley brilliant idea! Just attach the plug on to a window and it will harness solar energy. A small converter will convert it into electricity which can be freely used as a plug when you are in the car, on a plane or outside.

Love this design and I really think it has a great potential.

I’d love it if they squared off the top so I could put my phone on the unit instead of hanging

then again, who cares what I think – this is pretty awesome

Cool – Solar to Hydrogen to Electricity

http://www.siei.org/mainpage.html

Guy decides to take his off the grid home off of its dependence on backup diesel generator (and because it would be a cool project)

Gets some friends together

Team ties together solar panels with Electrolyzer (to convert water into 0xygen and Hydrogen), store the hydrogen in a massive tank, and then fuel a fuel cell and batteries to power the home for 14 days as a backup to the solar panels.

Cool – Cardboard house from BoingBoing

Found the following on BoingBoing:

The Cardboard House — roofed with HDPE plastic — is recycled, recyclable, flat-pack, home-assembled, and comes with a composting toilet and condenses its own water, which doubles as an under-house ballast tank to keep it from blowing over.

Very cool. Link to BoingBoing article here.
