I'd like to expand on something you said, which so many of us fail at, and so many conferences don't facilitate... trying to set up meetings with other conference attendees ("strangers") in advance. You're both going to be in the same place at the same time. Take advantage of it! I believe conferences should be going out of their way to help attendees get in touch with each other (while protecting their private contact information), and there should even be scheduled "meeting times" when you don't have to miss conference sessions or networking to meet. Wouldn't it be nice if all attendees filled out a profile of what categories they were specifically looking to learn more about? Buy side and sell side... some real deals could be getting done and some real needs met. Well!
